Oakland Freedom School Summer 2011
Fostering the Imagination of Oakland’s Children
Our theory for change is simple. When young people are given the opportunity to imagine new possibilities, build vibrant community by sharing their stories, and given techniques to deal with stressful life challenges, they become more effective at creating positive personal and community change. This means providing youth with opportunities to heal from painful experiences, and foster hopefulness and general well-being. We call this process radical healing, which is a process which builds the capacity for individuals, organizations and communities to thrive
What results does Leadership Excellence produce in young people’s lives? How do these results make a difference for young people, their families and communities? Check out the results of independent research and evaluation on the impact of our programs. Our programs build healthy esteem, fosters healthy behaviors, and creates opportunities for community change.
